Laboratories on the Front Lines: Battling COVID-19
ASCP CEO, E. Blair Holladay, Ph.D., MASCP, SCT(ASCP)CM interviewed Karen Kaul, M.D., Ph.D., Chair, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, NorthShore University HealthSystem about the current COVID-19 crisis and the key role of labs and pathologists in the detection of COVID-19.
Every patient is touched by the lab multiple times during their life. The lab provides the data to ensure that patients are being treated properly and that they receive the right test, at the right time, with the right diagnosis. Patients may not see the laboratory scientists but they’re pathologists and laboratory specialists who are on the front line conducting the tests to detect COVID-19.
